The Best Homemade Pumpkin Bread


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup neutral-flavored oil of your choice (I like grapeseed oil)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce (you can use sweetened but the bread will be just a little sweeter)
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups pumpkin puree
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine oil, sugar, applesauce, eggs, and pumpkin.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger.
  4. Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Add water and mix well.
  5. Pour batter into prepared loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of loaves comes out clean.
