- 1/2 cup yellow mustard
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (use more or less to taste)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional – if using, make sure it’s an all-natural brand)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together all of the ingredients, except for the butter and liquid smoke. It may look separated, but it will come together as it cooks.
- Simmer gently for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in butter and liquid smoke, and simmer for 5 more minutes, or until the sauce is thickened to your liking.
